What happened. The Russian military disrupted the evacuation of civilians from the besieged Ukrainian city Mariupol.
Source. Statement by Mariupol's mayor.
Details. This Saturday at 11 a.m. local time, no less than 200 residents gathered next to a mall in Mariupol, waiting to be transferred to Zaporizhzhia.
"However, instead of promised buses the Russian military came and ordered the citizens to depart because 'the shelling is coming.' So, the crowd was dispersed under coercion. They never delivered the buses for the transfer," the representative of the city administration wrote.
According to Andriushchenko, later on, the Russian military positioned the buses at a different location (approximately 200 m from the agreed pick-up point). The residents were put into buses and told they were being evacuated to Dokuchaevsk, an occupied territory.
"People were not allowed to get off the bus. When asked why so, the answer was "nationalists fired at the evacuation point." Another lie, of course.
"This is how the evacuation fell apart yet again because of the Russians. They took advantage of the evacuees and the dignity of the Ukrainian military, blatantly violating the prearranged agreement on a cease-fire to pull off their deals," he added.
Ukrainian Parliament has also twitted that the evacuation was compromised.
"About 200 Mariupol residents were planning to leave. Though, when they arrived at the assembly point, the Russian military told them to scatter due to the forthcoming shelling," the parliament's official statement said.
Let us remind you how earlier relocatee from Mariupol has told about Russians creating their fakes. Case in point, propagandists even hung Russian flags on Ukrainian buses.
