What happened? Speaking in front of the European Parliament, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen announced the sixth package of EU sanctions against russia.

Details. The European Union proposes to ban all imports of russian oil: marine and pipeline, crude and refined.
“We will make sure that we phase out Russian oil in an orderly fashion, in a way that allows us and our partners to secure alternative supply routes and minimizes the impact on global markets. We will gradually stop the supply of crude oil within six months, and refined products – by the end of the year,” she said.
Other proposed sanctions include:
• a list of high-ranking military and other people accused of committing war crimes in Bucha and of the blockade of Mariupol;
• a ban on the broadcasting of three russian state TV channels on the EU air;
• exclusion of the largest Russian bank Sberbank from the SWIFT payment system together with two other large banks;
• a ban on European accountants, consultants and political technologists-spindoctors who provided services to the aggressor.
The European Union also plans to impose sanctions on the head of the russian Orthodox Church, Kirill.
