What happened? For the past two months, Germany has supplied almost no weapons to Ukraine, despite the promises made by Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Source. This was reported by Welt.
Details. In April Scholz said that Germany would not supply heavy weapons to Ukraine – according to the Chancellor, this is required by agreements with NATO countries.
Nevertheless, no light weapons have been sent to Ukraine since the end of March as well. According to the publication, the Chancellor has been lying about supporting Ukraine for the last nine weeks.
Between March 30 and May 26, Ukraine received only two consignments of weapons from the German government: 3,000 anti-tank mines and another 1,600 specialized targeted anti-tank mines, spare parts for machine guns, lighters, detonating cords, radio receivers, hand grenades, and explosives.
According to Ukrainian data, the last supply of anti-aircraft and anti-tank weapons took place on March 25, more than two months ago – 2,000 Panzerfaust 3 missiles and 1,500 Strela anti-aircraft missiles.
Background. A month ago Germany agreed to send dozens of anti-aircraft tanks to help Ukraine resist the russian invasion. Berlin says it may deliver the first self-propelled anti-aircraft systems – Gepard tanks – in July.
