The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova has adopted a law on the security of the information space aimed at fighting with disinformation.
According to the document, the media will no longer be able to spread news and analytics from a number of countries, including Russia. This was reported by the Voice of America with reference to “Teleradio-Moldova”.
The adopted law prohibits media service providers and distributors from broadcasting “television and radio programs of informational, information-analytical, military and political content” from countries that have not ratified the European Convention on transfrontier television.
According to the law, it is possible to leave films, music and entertainment programs that do not have a militaristic connotation.
In addition, Moldovan media have been banned from broadcasting programs of any country of origin that justify military aggression, deny war crimes or incite hatred.
Violation of the law carries a fine of up to 100,000 Moldovan leu (near $ 5,000).
