What happened? Ukraine has managed to establish two routes to export grain from the country – in particular through Poland and Romania.
Source. This was announced by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Senik in a comment to Reuters.
Details. According to him, these routes are not ideal for export, but Ukraine is doing everything possible to develop them. Reuters noted that the export to Romania involves the transportation of Ukrainian grain by rail to ports on the Danube, and then the goods are loaded on a barge for transportation to the Port of Constanța. It is noted that this is a complex and expensive process.
Senik reminded that global food security is in danger now due to russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which has halted Ukrainian grain exports through the Black Sea and caused massive deficits and sharp price increases.
