The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson has arrived in Kyiv. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. He posted a video of his meeting with Johnson.
“Many days of this war have proved that Great Britain's support for Ukraine is firm and resolute. Glad to see our country's great friend Boris Johnson in Kyiv again,” wrote the President.
The Prime Minister was supposed to attend the big Red Wall summit in Doncaster, but refused at the last moment.
Boris Johnson had already visited Ukraine after the start of a full-scale russian invasion. During his visit in April, he promised to send 20 units of armored vehicles and new anti-ship missile systems.
The day before, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis arrived in Ukraine. They visited the city of Irpin and made a joint statement following a meeting with Zelensky: the leaders unanimously called for Ukraine to be granted EU candidate status immediately.
