Ukraine's victory in the war with Russia will lead to the collapse of the Moscow empire, said the billionaire George Soros at the Munich Security Conference.

Details. In his speech, the famous investor of Hungarian origin and founder of the human rights network Open Society Foundations said that World War III must be "avoided at all costs" and that "European support for Ukraine must be preserved."
He noted that the administration of US President Joe Biden is supplying Ukraine with missiles, tanks, and ammunition necessary to counter a Russian attack.
However, he emphasized that opposition from the Republican-led House of Representatives "makes it unlikely that another major bipartisan U.S. aid package will be passed."
"The Ukrainian army is putting up a strong fight, and as soon as Ukraine is able to use the promised weapons, (on the battlefield) everything will change," Soros said.
"This gives Ukraine a narrow opportunity this spring, when it receives the promised weapons, to launch a counterattack that will determine the fate of the Russian invasion of Ukraine," he added.
Soros also suggested that the countries of the former Soviet Union are "looking forward" to Russia's defeat in Ukraine because they want to "assert their independence."
"This means that a Ukrainian victory will lead to the collapse of the Russian empire, and Russia will no longer pose a threat to Europe and the world," he said.
"This would be a great change for the better. It would be a huge relief for open communities and a huge problem for closed ones," Soros said.
The investor reiterated Moldovan President Maia Sandu's warning that Putin may be planning a coup against her country, and warned that this threat could be carried out before the anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
