Mavka: The Forest Song has become the highest-grossing animated film in the history of Ukrainian cinema distribution

The film outperformed blockbusters by Disney, Pixar, and Universal and collected 98,634,367 UAH over four weekends

The Ukrainian animated film Mavka: The Forest Song has become the highest-grossing animated project in the history of Ukrainian film distribution.

During the four weeks after the release on the big screen, Ukrainian animation became the box office leader among the world's animated blockbusters that have been released in Ukraine since Ukraine's independence.

The film, directed by Oleksandra Ruban and Oleh Malamuzh, outperformed blockbusters from the world's leading animation studios Disney, Pixar and Universal, including Frozen 2, Sing 2, Pet Secrets 2, The Grinch and others.

For four consecutive weekends, the animated film has been at the top of the Ukrainian box office, despite the fact that there are new releases every week.

During the month of its release, the film sold 779,798 tickets and collected 98,634,367 UAH at the box office.

Background. After three weekends, Mavka collected 81,848,415 UAH and set a box office record for Ukrainian releases, surpassing the previous record holder, I, You, He, She.

Animagrad, a part of Film.ua group, is to pay 26.45% of the income from the commercial use of all rights of the animated film Mavka: The Forest Song to the Ukrainian State Film Agency. The agency's share in the property rights to the film is 26.45%, while Animagrad's share is 73.55%. According to the agreement with the Ukrainian State Film Agency, it is the company that has the right to replicate, sell, rent the film, etc.

The budget of the animated film was 187 million UAH.
