Consolidated budget expenditures for Q1 2023 amounted to almost UAH 810 billion

About half of the funds were spent on defence purposes

Expenditures of the consolidated budget of Ukraine for Q1 2023 reached UAH 809.5 billion.

This was announced by Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Finance Committee.

The defence sector accounted for 49.8% of the total expenditures in the first quarter. The second largest expenditure was on social protection (15.5% of expenditures). Security and public order cost the state 11.3% of expenditures.

At the same time, 7.9% was spent on education, 5.6% on healthcare, 5.4% on general government functions including public debt service, 2.6% on economic activities, and 1.9% on other functions.

Meanwhile, the consolidated budget revenues for the last quarter reached UAH 627.6 billion, including UAH 133.9 billion in grants. The deficit, including lending, amounted to UAH 179.2 billion, while the central budget deficit was UAH 220.1 billion. Local budgets, however, remained in surplus, with a figure of +UAH 40.9 billion.
