The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has in absentia notified 23 former law enforcement officers from Mariupol of suspicion, who have collaborated with the russians and taken up positions in the so-called law enforcement agencies of the occupiers.
This is reported by the press service of the SBI.
"It has been established that after the capture of Mariupol, the traitors voluntarily donned enemy camouflage with the occupiers' identification marks. They followed the instructions of the enemy authority, carried out filtering measures on the territory of Kalmiuskyi, Primorskyi, and Zhovtnevyi districts of Mariupol, and searched for pro-Ukrainian citizens. The 'policemen' also willingly participated in the occupiers' mass events, provided comments to russian propagandists, criticised the Ukrainian government, and advocated supporting the occupation regime," the SBI press service reports.
The former law enforcement officers were notified of suspicion of treason. The penalty under the article provides for punishment in the form of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
"The work on exposing traitors and collaborators in the temporarily occupied territories continues, no one will avoid responsibility for treason," the SBI emphasises.
Background. Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed former Minister of Education Tabachnik for cooperation with the FSB and Kadyrov's associates.
