"Today we confirm the delivery of long-range artillery and radars. Norway is donating three Arthur artillery locating radars and up to eight long-range multiple rocket launchers. The donations are made in close cooperation with the United Kingdom. This is a significant contribution to Ukraine's defense, and it shows the determination of our governments to support the Ukrainian people together," reads the text of the joint statement adopted following the meeting and published on the Norwegian government's website on Thursday.
The document notes the growing need for close military cooperation between the two countries, especially at sea, as well as a common understanding and shared desire to further strengthen bilateral defense cooperation.
"The sabotage of the Nord Stream pipeline last year is a clear reminder of what is at stake here. That is why our signing today is very important. By working together, we can improve our ability to detect submarines, counter mine threats and protect critical infrastructure on the seabed," the statement said.
During Thursday's meeting, the ministers "also agreed to continue and strengthen support for Ukraine."
"We work closely together in this support, both financially, through the International Fund for Ukraine, and militarily, through Operation Interflex. Norway makes a significant contribution to the fund, and we contribute to the training of Ukrainian soldiers both here in the UK and in Norway. Starting this summer, Norway will double the number of our Interflex instructors. We have also worked together to maximize our efforts to provide free weapons and ammunition," the document says.
