On Saturday, Dnipro mourned the victims of a russian missile strike that damaged one of its hospitals, said Mayor Borys Filatov.
"I have just returned from the scene of the tragedy. The rubble is being cleared. A daytime missile strike destroyed a branch of one of the medical institutions that provided psychiatric care. In simple words, a psychiatric hospital. There were no military targets nearby," he wrote in a Telegram.
Filatov confirmed that, according to the latest reports, two people were killed in the strike. At least 26 people were wounded, including two children.
"The poor animals of the nearby veterinary clinic were also hit. There could have been more victims. In fact, people were saved by a miracle. At the time of the attack, the hospital was in the middle of a "shift change"," the mayor wrote.
He added that the IDP families who temporarily lived on the second floor of the hospital had just moved out a few weeks ago.
"So maybe a miracle will happen again. And we will find those medical workers with whom we have no contact now. And that the number of victims will not increase further," Filatov wrote.
According to him, more than a thousand windows were broken in the city as a result of today's russian strikes. "There is damage to roofs and communications. Not to mention people's private property."
He advised all those affected to contact the administrations in their districts.
