Members of the European Parliament have condemned the destruction of the Ukrainian dam in Nova Kakhovka, calling it a war crime committed by Russia, which must bear the consequences.

MEPs called on the EU to continue its strong support for Ukraine, to impose new sanctions against Russia and to use the billions of frozen assets of Russian oligarchs to rebuild Ukraine.
In response, the Russian Permanent Representation to the EU said that "Russia is always accused of Kyiv's crimes" and that "the uncontrolled pumping of Western weapons into Ukraine, including by EU member states, makes it possible to commit such crimes."
Background. As a reminder, the European Parliament called on NATO allies to invite Ukraine to join the Alliance, and "the accession process will begin after the war ends and will be completed as soon as possible."
