US to supply Ukraine with cluster munitions - Sullivan

He said this would be a "bridge of supplies" amidst the growth of conventional ammunition production

The White House has decided to supply Ukraine with cluster munitions. US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that the supply of ammunition would be a "bridge of supplies" while conventional weapons production would increase in the coming months.

This was published by the New York Times.

Sullivan clarifies that "this is the moment to start building that bridge so that there is no period during the summer or this autumn when Ukraine is short of artillery."

He also said that the decision to provide cluster munitions to Kyiv was made after consultations, approval by allies and Congress. According to him, Ukraine has provided written guarantees that it will "minimise the risks to citizens" when using these munitions.
