The German defence conglomerate Rheinmetall to open an armoured vehicle factory in Ukraine

Production is planned to start in 12 weeks

The German defence conglomerate Rheinmetall is to open an armoured vehicle factory in Ukraine.

This was announced by the company's CEO, Armin Papperger, in an interview with CNN.

In Ukraine, the conglomerate plans to build and repair tanks. It is noted that the factory is expected to be operational in 12 weeks, in the west of the country.

"Ukrainians must help themselves, or they will always have to wait for the help of Europeans or Americans for the next 10 or 20 years... that's impossible," Papperger believes.

CNN adds that the company previously reported plans to build a factory in Ukraine worth €200 million, which would produce about 400 tanks a year.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that construction of the Bayraktar factory had already begun in Ukraine. A memorandum has been signed with Turkey, envisaging the development of production of different types of UAVs.
