The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv has imposed a pre-trial restraint on the driver – he will be held in custody without bail.

According to updated information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a 23-year-old driver hit the soldiers. As a result of the collision, a 49-year-old National Guard soldier was killed and his 26-year-old colleague was injured.

The car then rammed into two other parked cars, in one of which was a military officer of the territorial recruitment centre, who was treated on the spot.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

The accident occurred on the night of 25 July at around 05:00 a.m. in the Sviatoshynskyi district of the capital. According to law enforcement officers, the driver was driving along Beresteyska Avenue during curfew and ran into the National Guard servicemen who were stationed at the post.

As a result, one of the National Guard servicemen died from the injuries received. His colleague was hospitalised and is currently in serious condition. Meanwhile, the driver was detained. Currently, the issue of notifying him of suspicion and choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved.

Background. Mind previously reported that a judge, who had hit a National Guard serviceman to death, was detained for two months. He was not allowed to be released on bail.
