A concert hall in Prague has announced the cancellation of a planned performance by russian-Austrian opera singer Anna Netrebko, BBC reports.
The concert was to take place in October at the Prague Municipal House, an Art Deco building owned by the city.
However, the vice mayor of Prague recommended canceling the event after negotiations with the Ukrainian embassy.
Anna Netrebko is on Ukraine's sanctions list and has been accused of actively supporting the putin regime in the past.
According to the Czech media, the singer lived in Austria for several years, but took part in putin's election events and was photographed alongside pro-russian separatists in Ukraine.
The producer who organised the event said that Netrebko had condemned the war and did not understand the reason for canceling the event, which was almost sold out.
Background. As a reminder, the US imposed sanctions on oligarchs Aven and Fridman, who do not live in russia.
