Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will stand trial on charges of corruption and illegal financing related to Libya's alleged funding of his successful presidential campaign in 2007. But the trial is not expected to begin until 2025.

Sarkozy is accused of illegal campaign financing, corruption, participation in a malicious conspiracy, and the management of public funds obtained through illegal means.
The trial is scheduled for early 2025, from January 6 to April 10.
Another 12 people, including two former interior ministers and the budget minister, will be tried.
The former president, who served from 2007 to 2012, could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted in this case. He is also involved in other court cases.
As a reminder, in 2021, a court in Paris found former French President Nicolas Sarkozy guilty of violating the law in financing his 2012 election campaign and sentenced him to one year in prison.
