The United States plans to increase production of 155 mm shells several times

Demand for 155 mm artillery shells has increased dramatically since Russia's invasion of Ukraine

The United States plans to increase monthly production of 155mm artillery shells in the coming years to 100,000, a Pentagon spokesman said.

Source. This was reported by the BBC.

"In 2025, we will be at the level of 100 thousand per month. Six or eight months ago, we were at 14,000 per month, today we have 28,000 per month," Bill LaPlante, the Pentagon's chief weapons buyer, said at a conference on Friday.

Demand for 155mm artillery shells has surged since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Background. As a reminder, Western officials believe that Russia has reached a production level of 2 million artillery shells per year – twice as many as Western intelligence agencies had predicted.
