Less than a month ago, on September 12, at the Eastern Economic Forum, Putin gave completely different figures when talking about armored vehicle losses.
"Since the beginning of this counteroffensive, the loss of personnel is 71,500 people. As for tanks, we have already lost 543 tanks, and almost 18,000 armored vehicles of various classes," Putin said.
In total, before the Russian invasion, Ukraine had 12,303 armored vehicles, according to the Global Firepower project (an analytical website that ranks countries by military power).
After the outbreak of the war, Western countries provided the Ukrainian Armed Forces with 1,803 armored vehicles (this figure includes armored vehicles, armored personnel carriers, and armored personnel carriers), according to the Oryx project.
