Lloyd Austin: If the US suspends support for Ukraine, Putin will succeed

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin warned on Tuesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin would succeed in his attempt to seize territory in Ukraine if the United States stops supporting Kyiv.

"I can guarantee that without our support, Putin will succeed," Austin said during a Senate hearing on additional funding for national security interests, including Ukraine.

According to the proposed bill, Ukraine could receive $44.4 billion in support if congressmen support the initiative.

"If we pull the ground out from under Ukrainians now, Putin will only become stronger and succeed in what he wants to do, in terms of occupying the sovereign territory of his neighbor," the minister said.

As reported, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken appealed to the Senate to allocate $106 billion to help Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, as well as to strengthen the US southern border.

Blinken said that the invasion of Ukraine turned out to be a strategic failure for Russia thanks to US assistance.
