After this date, cars with Russian license plates will be allowed to stay in Latvia only in transit and for no more than 24 hours. If the rules are violated, the cars will be taken away and transferred to Ukraine.
Earlier, the Latvian Ministry of Justice said that cars with Belarusian license plates would also be confiscated, but the amendments do not include this.
Background. On September 17, Poland banned cars registered in Russia from entering its territory. Earlier, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia introduced similar bans. Norway has also announced plans to close the road.
