A car with a local collaborator was blown up in Luhansk, the Russian Investigative Committee opened a case of terrorist attack

Popov participated in the war against Ukraine on the side of Russia since 2014, so he is a legitimate target

A criminal case on terrorist attack, illegal trafficking and manufacturing of explosives was opened after a car bombing in Luhansk, which is located in the occupied part of Luhansk region.

Source. This was reported by the BBC with reference to the Investigative Committee of Russia.

Earlier on Wednesday it became known that a former deputy of the so-called "People's Council of the Luhansk People's Republic" Oleg Popov was killed in a car explosion in the center of Luhansk.

"Our colleague died as a result of a car bombing near the Avangard stadium in Luhansk," another "deputy" Yuriy Yurov confirmed the information. He called Popov a member of the "people's militia of Donbas" who had been participating in the fighting since 2014.

According to Yurov, in September last year, Popov was already assassinated, and the attempt was allegedly organized by the Security Service of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian authorities have not commented on the reports of Popov's death, but a law enforcement source told the BBC's Ukrainian Service that "this liquidation was the work of the SBU," calling the deceased "a completely legitimate target."

Background. As a reminder, Russian media reported the death of former MP and traitor to Ukraine Ilya Kiva, whose body was found in a village near Moscow.
