A spokesman for the UK Ministry of Defence confirmed to AFP that the Ukrainian Armed Forces use the British missiles they are supplied with at their discretion.
Back in May last year, the UK announced the supply of air-launched Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine, becoming the first country to provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with long-range missiles.
This was later followed by other countries providing cruise missiles to Ukraine.
However, the British Ministry of Defence insists that the British military is not involved in the identification of possible targets and the operational use of these weapons.
"Ukraine's use of Storm Shadow and the selection of targets is a matter for the Armed Forces of Ukraine," said a spokesman for the Ministry of Defence.
This statement by the British Ministry of Defence came a day after German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Monday that Berlin would not follow the example of the UK and France in supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles and assisting in their deployment.
