Polish farmers announce blockade at border crossing between Poland and Slovakia

The protesters plan to check every truck heading to Poland and let one truck through per hour

Polish farmers have announced a blockade-control on one of the roads between Poland and Slovakia, which they want to keep until the end of March.

This was reported by Yevropeiska Pravda.

Farmers from nearby settlements plan to check cargo on the border of Slovakia and Poland near the village of Chyzhne and have filed an application for their protest with the commune in Jabłonka.

The reason for the protest is the same as in all previous actions of farmers – they demand to stop the "uncontrolled flow of grain from Ukraine to the EU".

In addition, they want to change the requirements of the EU's green legislation, which make it difficult for them to compete with cheaper products from third countries.

The protesters will go to the checkpoint with their tractors and plan to check every truck heading to Poland and let one through per hour. They promised to allow cars, pedestrians and cyclists to pass unhindered.

Truck drivers who do not pass the "inspection" are not allowed to enter Poland.

Background. Earlier it became known that Poland had decided to cancel checks on the border with Slovakia due to a decrease in illegal migration. The controls were introduced in October 2023.
