The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a note to the Russian Charge d'Affaires stating that an employee of the Russian Embassy has been declared persona non grata in Estonia.

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsakhna called this decision a response to "coordinated actions of Russian special services against the Republic of Estonia, including hybrid operations against security".
He also accused the Russian embassy staff of interfering in Estonia's internal affairs.
"The Russian Embassy unacceptably interfered <...> in the process of justice by taking possession of the criminal case documents and facilitating their publication on Russian social media."
In January 2024, Estonian security services arrested Russian political scientist and professor at the University of Tartu Vyacheslav Morozov on suspicion of espionage. The details of the charges have not been disclosed. Morozov is currently being held in a Tallinn prison.
Background. As reported, on 13 March, the Estonian authorities began to fine car owners if they have not yet re-registered their cars and are driving with Russian licence plates.
