Zelenskyy does not believe Russia will agree to Macron's "Olympic truce"

According to him, no truce format with Russia is possible

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not believe in the format of the Olympic truce proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron for the duration of the Paris Olympics.

"I do not believe in this format of the truce. I do not believe in any format of truce with the Russian Federation. It's a lie, Emmanuel knows it, and he is a witness to it," he said in an interview with journalist Hugo Decript, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

"We were in the Normandy format together, we went through the whole Minsk process together. France, Germany, Ukraine, we are all living witnesses. We are living witnesses that there is no such thing as a frozen conflict with Russia," he said.

According to Zelenskyy, "at the time we signed the Normandy format agreements, we agreed that there would be a ceasefire. But at the front, we had people who were shooting at our military."

"They were training their snipers, for example. They just went hunting for phone intercepts. They had a group of 20-30 specialists who were killing our people with sniper shots every day for several months. That is, for Putin, there is no truce, no Olympics, no authority," Zelenskyy said.

Background. As a reminder, French President Emmanuel Macron said he would ask China to help achieve an "Olympic truce" for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
