Zelenskyi called the Olympic truce proposed by Macron "a dead story"

In his opinion, Russia can use the ceasefire to advance its technology

The ceasefire for the period of the Olympic Games in Paris can hardly be applied to hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi told journalists.
"We already had a ceasefire. But it doesn't work very well with this enemy. In addition, there is a risk – who will record that during the ceasefire their forces will not approach us? Cessation of fire does not prevent the equipment from driving closer, and then turning on the offensive. That is, I do not understand the details. For me, it still sounds like a dead story," Zelenskyy said.
The Olympics in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11. At that time, French President Emmanuel Macron proposed to declare a ceasefire, in particular, in Russia's war against Ukraine.
Background. Earlier, Zelenskyi already questioned this idea, saying that he does not believe in the format of the Olympic truce.
"I do not believe in any format of a truce with the Russian Federation. This is a lie, Emmanuel knows it, and he himself is a witness to it," he said in an interview with journalist Hugo Decrypt.
It will be recalled that Macron announced that he would ask China to help achieve an "Olympic truce" during the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
