The Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a massive missile attack on Crimea on the night of 24 May. This information was confirmed by the so-called 'governor' Sergei Aksyonov, who reported that two people were killed during the shelling and that the missile hit an 'empty commercial facility'.
The Russian Ministry of Defence stated that the "attempted attack" on the peninsula was allegedly stopped.
The strike could also have targeted the locations of the 126th Coastal Defence Brigade of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, according to the Krymskiy Viter public group. According to it, explosions on the night of 24 May also occurred at the Belbek airfield and in Sevastopol.
Prior to that, the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out major attacks on Crimea on 16 and 17 May. As a result, a substation of the same name was damaged in Sevastopol, causing power outages, and two MiG-31s, one Su-27 and one MiG-29 were destroyed at the Belbek airfield.
