The American company Apple presented a new artificial intelligence system at the WWDC2024 conference.
The company claims that artificial intelligence will be able to understand the user's ‘personal context’. For example, it can organise messages depending on their importance, offer convenient routes, and perform personalised tasks.
AI will be able to rewrite or edit text in standard and third-party services, create pictures in Messages and Notes, Keynote, Pages, and Freeform.
Apple has also created a separate programme for experimenting with AI images – Image Playground.
The company demonstrated how AI rewrites a motivation letter depending on who it is addressed to. Or it offers a response based on previous correspondence and the author's speech style. Corrections and explanations can be cancelled or edited.
Siri can perform actions in apps for the user. For example, you can ask her to take a photo and send it to a friend. Or find some text information in photos and add it to an email or fill out a form.
Genmoji, a feature that generates emojis based on a text query, has been added.
Apple said that it understands that not all AI functions can be implemented by the devices themselves, so if necessary, artificial intelligence will turn to the cloud. Apple says that requests and data will be sent to the so-called ‘private cloud’, and this data will never be stored on servers, and Apple will never be able to access it. Independent experts will verify the veracity of Apple's claims, the company said.
Apple Intelligence will be available in iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia in the summer in English for users in the US. Later, the company will add support for other languages and countries.
ChatGPT 4o will be available on iOS, macOS, and iPadOS ‘later in 2024’. Siri will turn to the chatbot if it ‘cannot execute the command on its own’. Before that, the system will ask the user for permission.
ChatGPT features are available for free without creating an account. Users with a ChatGPT Plus subscription can connect an account. In the future, the company wants to use other artificial intelligence models.
AI functions will be available in iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, iPad, and other devices with M1 chips and newer.
