Everything must be done to maintain a close connection between Europe and the US – Tusk

"Everything must be done to ensure that Europe and the US speak with one voice", emphasized the Prime Minister of Poland.

"All without exception, regardless of emotions, would like US-European relations to be as strong as possible", Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said this after the summit in London, according to PAP.

The Polish Prime Minister emphasized that maintaining the closest possible ties with the United States is crucial for the security of Poland, Europe, and the future of Ukraine.

He added that after Friday's meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, he had the impression that a narrative was emerging that could divide Europe and the US.

"We cannot allow this. Poland, for obvious reasons, is most interested in ensuring that Europe becomes stronger and capable of defense on a scale incomparably greater than now, to deter Russia from a possible attack," Tusk stressed.

He emphasized that at the same time, the country is working to maintain the strongest possible ties with the United States.

"That is why I unequivocally supported the proposal of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni that Europe and the US must find a way for continuous and very honest discussions between them and exchange views so that we understand each other as well as possible before the decisive events ahead. I am talking about negotiations," he said.

He added that Poland and Europe are looking forward to March 6, when European leaders' negotiations on Ukraine are set to continue, and that it will be "a very clear signal to show Putin and Russia that no one on the Western side intends to capitulate to his blackmail and aggression."
