The President of Slovakia Zuzana Caputova arrived in Ukraine on Tuesday, May 31.
She met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and addressed the Verkhovna Rada.
In addition, Zuzana Caputova visited Irpin and Borodianka that were destroyed by russian troops.
This is stated in the message of Caputova on Facebook.
“You are our eyes in Europe, you see what happened here. Thank you for coming,” said a representative of the bombed city of Irpin near Kyiv.
“The fact that pictures of the war in Ukraine are no longer on the front pages of all news agencies does not mean that the suffering of Ukrainians has decreased. In Borodianka and Irpin, I saw firsthand the traces of destruction brought to Ukraine by russian soldiers. Hundreds of kilometers to the east and south, thousands of other civilians in Ukraine – women, men, children – today face the same destruction. I believe that when this nightmare is over, Ukraine will flourish again. Just as flowers bloomed today amid the destroyed houses in Borodyanka or Irpin,” she wrote.
Speaking in front of the Verkhovna Rada, Caputova promised the supply of heavy weapons to the Armed Forces and said she would support Ukraine's soon accession to the EU.
“Slovakia supports Ukraine and Ukrainians in the struggle for freedom and realizes that it is a struggle for our common freedom and common values. I am grateful to Zuzana Caputova for productive negotiations. We appreciate Slovakia's help to our state and people,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.
