The state that has already joined, but is still at the stage of candidacy, receives huge subsidies for the so-called equalization of development,” the expert noted.
He cited the example of Poland, which received 10-12 billion annually. The country received most of these revenues under the pretext of its level of development being significantly lower than the general level of development of the EU.
“The key principle in the preparation of candidates for membership in the European Union is that a lot of resources, in particular financial, are being invested to bring the state to the middle European level of development. Therefore, those countries that join the EU with the lowest income per capita receive the most from the central European budget. At the same time, those who have a higher total income than the European average, give their funds to the countries with the lower one,” the Moldovan explained.
