Details. The politician stresses that Ukraine may skip the plans to meet the Alliance's standards and the level of interoperability.
“We believe that Ukraine as a unique partner of the Alliance in a very special security situation will have its own reasonable path to NATO membership,” Mr. Yermak explains.
The politician adds that this decision requires the consensus of all NATO member states. At the same time, according to the head, 90% of Ukrainians support Ukraine's accession to NATO.
Instead, the Office of the President emphasises that Ukraine needs consolidated efforts of partners to create effective security guarantees. Ukrainian representatives offered the Alliance to sign a joint document on strategic partnership between Ukraine and guarantor states.
“These commitments must be reliable, as we cannot agree to a new list of non-binding assurances like the infamous Budapest Memorandum,” Mr. Yermak comments.
