What happened? In January, the state budget was executed with a deficit of 72.3 billion UAH, including the general fund – in the amount of 78.9 billion UAH, against the deficit of 158.6 billion UAH planned for January 2023.

Details. According to the State Treasury Service, in January, the general fund of the state budget received 104.4 billion UAH. One third, or 36.6 billion UAH, was received in the form of international aid. The cash expenditures of the state budget amounted to 193.7 billion UAH, including 183.6 billion UAH of the general fund, or 80.6% of the plan for the reporting period.
In January, UST revenues to the Pension Fund and social insurance funds amounted to 32.4 billion UAH.
Actual public borrowings to the general fund of the state budget amounted to 160.1 billion UAH in January, or 54.7% of the planned amount for that period.
In particular, 41.4 billion UAH was raised from the placement of domestic government bonds to finance the state budget, including 2.6 billion UAH in foreign currency ($40.2 million and €29.4 million).
The NBU attracted 118.7 billion UAH (€3 billion) of EU macro-financial assistance from external sources, respectively.
At the same time, public debt repayments in January amounted to 12.8 billion UAH (98.2% of the plan), and debt service payments amounted to 0.6 billion UAH (27.2% of the plan).
