Zelensky announces simplification for business in "dozens of areas"

This includes the abolition of bureaucratic permits and licences; steps are being taken to create and prepare workplaces

What happened? President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that the government was preparing "new significant steps" in deregulating the Ukrainian economy. In particular, the head of state announced simplification for business "in dozens of areas".

Source. The President stated that in his evening address on February 15.

Details. This includes the abolition of various bureaucratic permits and licences. Earlier, the Interagency Working Group on Accelerated Review of State Regulation of Economic Activity (IWG on Deregulation) recommended the abolition of 47% of business licences and permits.

President Zelensky also said that steps were being taken to create and prepare workplaces. "Every job in our country now is a contribution to our resilience. And it is a way to bring our people back to Ukraine. The relevant details will be presented at the government level," the President added.

Presumably, this refers to the integration of veterans into the labour market and entrepreneurship, as noted by Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko during the presentation of the Work without Barriers project.

"Starting April 1, 2023, we are introducing additional grant programmes for veterans and their spouses, as well as for veteran businesses. We are simplifying the conditions for veterans' access to the security services market, and the relevant amendments to the legislation will be introduced in March. We will introduce subsidised jobs for people with disabilities – we will financially incentivize employers to hire such people," said the head of the Ministry of Economy.

It is expected that starting April 1, veterans will be able to receive a grant of up to 250,000 UAH for business development under the Own Business grant programme, the veteran's spouse will receive a grant of up to 500,000 UAH, and a consortium of veterans will receive a grant of up to 1 million UAH.

The launch of the joint Start in IT grant programme of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Digital Transformation, which will allow veterans to receive a grant for training in the field of information technology, is also scheduled for this date.
