The German automaker Volkswagen is considering selling its russian assets, but no decision has been made yet, according to Volkswagen and the russia's Ministry of Industry and Trade.

In particular, the sale of the Volkswagen plant in Kaluga to the russian car dealer Avilon is being considered. According to one of the sources, Avilon will become the buyer of the asset, and the final approval of the deal is scheduled for March 3.
"We are constantly monitoring the situation and considering various scenarios for further developments. One of the options is to sell the assets of Volkswagen Group Rus to a third party. However, no decision has been made on this matter yet," the press service of Volkswagen's russian office said in response to a Reuters request.
The russian Ministry of Industry and Trade confirmed that the sale of Volkswagen's russian assets is being considered and "various scenarios for the further development of the Volkswagen plant in Kaluga are being worked out. The sale of Volkswagen Group Rus assets to a third party is indeed being considered as one of the possible options. The final decision is still being formed."
The 225,000-vehicle-per-year capacity Volkswagen plant in Kaluga produces the Volkswagen Tiguan and Polo, as well as the Skoda Rapid.
In March last year, Volkswagen's plants in Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod ceased production after the group announced that it would suspend operations in russia until further notice.
