President of Poland says his country is ready to provide Ukraine with several more MiG-29s

This will require the consent of allies, especially the United States

President Andrzej Duda has said that Poland is ready to provide Ukraine with several more MiG-29 fighter jets. At a joint press conference after a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, he said that several planes have arrived across Poland's eastern border, and more are ready to be delivered in the near future.

"Four MiGs have been transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine over the past 4 months. We are now transferring 4 more MiGs in addition. This is already eight. We are ready to hand over 6 more, I told Mr. President (Zelensky) about this. We have more MiGs at our disposal, which we have modernized to NATO standards, especially when it comes to NATO operations as part of the Rapid Reaction Force," he said.

Andrzej Duda added that Poland needs the MiGs used for NATO air control, but when they are replaced by new aircraft, for example, from South Korea or the United States, they can then be transferred to Ukraine.

"The transfer of those that are currently performing NATO operations as part of the Rapid Reaction Force will require the consent of allies, primarily the United States, because they have the appropriate equipment manufactured and transferred by the American side," he added.

President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that the more weapons Ukraine receives, the better it will be able to defend itself.

Today, the presidents will take part in the Polish-Ukrainian Economic Forum, and Volodymyr Zelensky will also meet with Prime Minister Mateusz Moravecki. Presidents Duda and Zelenskyy will deliver speeches at the Royal Castle at 18:00.
