The Lithuanian Seimas has adopted a resolution for the NATO summer summit in Vilnius, which includes an official invitation to Ukraine to join the alliance.
Source. This is stated in the press service of the Lithuanian parliament.
The document says that at the NATO summit in Vilnius, Ukraine should be invited to join NATO, and the membership protocols should be signed and the ratification process launched when conditions allow.
Lithuanian parliamentarians believe that such a step would be a strategic decision by NATO to seek peace in Ukraine and Europe.
The resolution also emphasizes the need to strengthen defense in the Baltic region, increase the number of NATO troops in Lithuania to the level of a brigade, and improve the country's air defense.
The NATO Summit will be held in Vilnius on July 11-12. For the first time, Lithuania will host 40 delegations from NATO member states and partners.
Background. As a reminder, Lithuania has announced a new package of military assistance to Ukraine worth 41 million euros.
