RAF Typhoon jets intercepted two Russian fighter jets and a reconnaissance aircraft flying near NATO airspace over the Baltic Sea.

In a joint mission with the German Air Force, RAF pilots intercepted three Russian aircraft over the Gulf of Finland.
The RAF said that one plane was identified as a Russian intelligence plane flying from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad.
It was met by two Russian fighter jets based in Kaliningrad, which flew with it south through the northwestern part of the Estonian flight zone.
The British Royal Air Force and German Typhoons escorted the plane through the area before handing it over to the Swedish Air Force.
"We often see Russian warplanes flying over the Baltic Sea, so this was a routine interception for us. However, the importance of intercepting these aircraft and our commitment to the collective defense of NATO airspace remains unchanged and resolute," the RAF pilot said in a statement on the RAF website.
Background. As a reminder, Slovakia has already handed over all 13 of its MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine.
