russian gas exports to drop by 50% in 2023 compared to 2022 – Hetmantsev

According to estimates by the Energy Commission under the State Council of the russian federation, gas exports will amount to only 50 billion cubic metres, exactly half as much as in 2022.

This was announced by Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy.

According to him, the russian State Council has proposed to the government to focus on liquefied gas and the construction of 94 liquefaction plants in the future. The plan is designed to last until 2035.

But, according to the MP, the plan does not take into account two details:

• russia is unable to buy the relevant equipment due to sanctions, and over the past decade and a half, it has failed to design and manufacture its own;
• many countries (including large gas consumers) are planning to abandon the use of fossil fuels by 2035.
