SBU detained former Zaporizhia City Council deputy who adjusted the enemy fire

His activities resulted in 3 local residents killed, 30 private houses destroyed, and damage to a local enterprise

The Counterintelligence Service of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained another FSB agent during a special operation in Zaporizhia. Guided by him, russian invaders carried out a series of missile strikes on the city in April and May of this year.

This was reported by the SBU press service.

Due to the attacks, 3 local residents were killed, 30 private houses were destroyed, and one of the industrial enterprises in the region was damaged.

According to the investigation, the man received a 6-year prison sentence in 2001 for planning a coup in Ukraine. After being released, he joined a local cell of the banned Communist Party and in 2015 he served as a deputy of the Zaporizhia City Council for almost half a year.

He was also an active member of the pro-kremlin organisations Union of Soviet Officers and Immortal Regiment.

At the end of 2022, he was recruited by a staff member of the FSB to carry out intelligence and sabotage activities against Ukraine.

To carry out hostile tasks, the russian agent formed his own informant network. It included the former "party members" of the suspect who live in Zaporizhia.

Through them, he was secretly receiving information about operational industrial enterprises and the technical condition of critical infrastructure. Then the traitor personally went to the area and conducted covert photo and video fixation of Ukrainian objects. The information obtained was passed on to the russian federation for the preparation of air attacks on the region.

After enemy strikes, the perpetrator reported their consequences to the FSB.

During searches at the place of residence of the detainee, mobile phones were found which he used to communicate with the russian special service. Besides, a large amount of banned communist symbols was seized from him.
