SBU detains four saboteurs who committed arson attacks on the railway on the instructions of the FSB

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported the detention of four Ukrainian citizens accused of arson attacks on railways in the border areas in cooperation with the National Police.

According to the SBU, the suspects set fire to relay cabinets and signalling systems to disrupt the transport of personnel, equipment and ammunition of the Defence Forces to the frontline.

"The SBU jointly with the National Police neutralised a subversive group in Chernihiv region that, on the order of Russian special services, tried to destroy Ukrzaliznytsia facilities in the border area. According to available data, by setting fire to relay cabinets and signalling installations, the racists hoped to disrupt the transportation of personnel, equipment and ammunition of the Defence Forces to the front line," the SBU press service said.

The sabotage group consisted of four residents of Odesa and Chernihiv regions, who, according to the SBU, were recruited by the Russian secret service via telegram channels and committed arson after receiving commands from their supervisor. They tried to destroy 4 relay cabinets in this way.

"After the objects caught fire, the suspects filmed it on video, recording the date, time and place of the sabotage," the SBU said.

The suspects are accused of sabotage committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy under martial law (Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Background. As a reminder, a few days ago, an FSB agent group preparing arson attacks in European shopping malls was exposed in Ukraine. They were planning terrorist attacks in crowded places in Poland and the Baltic States.
