SBU and DBR bring charges against former head of the Crimean SBU Kulinich

Before the Russian invasion, Kulinich was spying for Russia and placing "his people" in Ukraine's law enforcement agencies

The SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation have submitted to the court an indictment on high treason and other crimes against the former head of the SBU Main Directorate in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Oleh Kulinich, who, according to the investigation, acted in favor of the aggressor country.

Source. This was reported by the press service of the SBU.

In particular, he is charged under 5 articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

- Treason;

- creation, leadership of a criminal community or criminal organization, as well as participation in it;

- unauthorized leaving of a military unit or place of service;

- theft, misappropriation, extortion by a serviceman of weapons, ammunition, explosives or other munitions, vehicles, military and special equipment or other military property, as well as their acquisition through abuse of office;

- illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives.

Oleh Kulinich was detained as a result of a special operation by the SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation in July 2022. He has been in custody for a year.

SBU Head Vasyl Malyuk was personally involved in the development and detention of Kulinich.

"We did our best not only to detain a high-level state traitor, but also to collect a strong evidence base on which the court will be able to pass a fair verdict. This is a clear signal to all those who work for the enemy: The SBU will definitely find you and make you accountable for your actions, no matter where you are hiding. We will drag every 'mole' into the light," noted Vasyl Malyuk.

According to the investigation, Kulinich collaborated with the FSB and received the operational nickname "Kotyhoroshko".

His subversive activities were supervised by the so-called "political office" in Moscow, which was organized by former NSDC Deputy Secretary Volodymyr Sivkovych and former Head of the Presidential Administration Andriy Kliuyev on the instructions of the FSB.

According to the investigation, even before the Russian invasion, Kulinich was spying for the aggressor country, placing "his people" in Ukraine's law enforcement agencies and inciting citizens to commit treason.

He faces up to 15 years in prison.

Background. As a reminder, the SBU has served notices of suspicion to more than 200 people since the beginning of Russia's full-scale aggression.
