The MPs suggest aligning the goods' categories, which are exempt from Value Added Tax and import taxation, with the classification of specific goods according to the Combined Nomenclature, as set out in the relevant acts of European Union law.

Furthermore, it is noted that it is necessary to expand the list of UCC FEA codes for night vision devices, as currently the exemption from duties and VAT only applies to thermal imaging binoculars and monoculars, classified under codes 9005 10 00 00 and 9005 80 00 00 in accordance with the UCC FEA.
As the MPs explain, the initiative is caused by the need to align the goods' categories, which are exempt from VAT and import taxation, by classifying the goods according to the EU's Combined Nomenclature (EU acquis), provided that such approaches do not contradict the provisions of the International Convention on the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System.
