The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Humanitarian Policy recommended approval at the first reading of bill № 9432, which proposes to affirm the status of English as one of the languages of international communication in Ukraine.
This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak.
He noted that MPs removed the norms on dubbing, which were originally in the draft law.
We remind that this law establishes rules on the use of English in the work of state and local government bodies, local self-government bodies, emergency assistance units to the population, when crossing the state border, as well as in the fields of education, culture, transport, health care and other areas.
The project will soon be considered in the session hall, he added.
Background. Previously, Mind analysed whether the English-speaking bill would kill the domestic dubbing and cinema distribution industry and how it will generally affect society and culture.
