Ukrenergo restores the possibility of electricity export to Slovakia

The first auction for the allocation of transmission capacity will take place today

Ukrenergo is restoring the possibility of electricity export to Slovakia.

This was reported by the company's press service.

The first auction for the allocation of transmission capacity of interstate lines will take place today. Participants will be offered 200 MW for 23 July from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The company explains that due to the war, access to interstate crossings is only being distributed for a short-term period at daily auctions.

It is noted that Ukrenergo and the Slovak operator SEPS have signed an agreement that determines the procedure for holding and distributing funds from auctions between countries. Moreover, the export of Ukrainian electricity will only take place at hours when there is an excess of energy in the network.

The press service also reminds that the maximum transmission capacity for electricity export to Europe permitted by ENTSO-E for Ukraine and Moldova is currently 400 MW, and for import – 1,200 MW. However, Ukrenergo is working on the possibility of increasing these volumes.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that Ukrenergo recorded a summer record for electricity consumption on July 19 – Ukrainians were called on conserving energy. At the same time, consumption exceeded the figure of the hottest day of the year.
