The NBU has lowered the base rate from 25% to 22%

This happened for the first time since 1 June 2022

The Board of the National Bank decided to lower the base rate from 25% to 22% as of 28 July 2023.

The regulator reports this.

It is noted that taking into account the improvement in inflation expectations and the forecast of further inflation slowdown, the current and forecasted rate reduction is consistent with preserving the attractiveness of hryvnia savings.

According to the NBU data, this is an important element in ensuring exchange rate stability amidst easing currency restrictions and transitioning to greater exchange rate flexibility.

"At the same time, the reduction of the base rate against the background of preserving macro-financial stability will support economic recovery," added the National Bank.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the NBU had maintained the base rate at 25% per annum.
