Metropolitan Pavlo (née Petro Lebed, aka Pasha-Mercedes), the abbot of the Kyiv Cave Monastery, who is accused of supporting russian aggression against Ukraine, has been released from custody. He was released on bail of 33 million UAH.
This was reported by the Ukrainian press with reference to the Metropolitan's lawyer.
Metropolitan Pavlo, a clergyman of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which was officially the church of the moscow Patriarchate before the war, was detained this spring and initially placed under house arrest.
Then, in July, a Kyiv court decided to send him to a pre-trial detention center, but with the right to post bail in the amount of 33.3 million UAH.
The lawyer did not say who posted the bail. Earlier, the Metropolitan's supporters announced an online fundraiser for bail.
Metropolitan Pavlo, known for his pro-moscow statements, is accused, in particular, of supporting russian aggression and inciting inter-religious hatred.
