A Pentagon spokesman said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine can use ATACMS missiles only within Ukraine.
"They (ATACMS missiles) are provided with assurances that these weapons will be used within the sovereign borders of Ukraine to retake territory and defend sovereign Ukraine," said US Defense Department spokesman General Pat Ryder.
He did not name the number of missiles handed over to Kyiv.
The use of long-range ATACMS missiles by the Ukrainian military first became known on the night of October 17, when the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck airfields in Berdiansk and Luhansk.
Background. According to Foreign Minister Kuleba, Ukraine will receive long-range ATACMS missiles on a regular basis, noting that this is a direct result of the agreements between Zelenskyy and Biden.
